National Science Week workshops for Edgeborough School

National Science Week may officially begin next week, but Edgeborough School has already leapt into action—igniting a buzz of curiosity, creativity, and sustainability across the school.

Today we kicked off with an inspiring visit from Green Up Your Act who delivered hands‑on environmental workshops for pupils in Years 1–8.

From exploring sustainable materials to discovering new ways to care for our planet, the sessions sparked thoughtful conversations.

The younger years took part in an Eco Fish workshop exploring alternatives to single use plastics and how we can all play a part in supporting a thriving ocean and river ecosystem. They also learnt how to reuse and recycle everyday materials – raising awareness of the problem of litter and the impact it has on our environment.

The older years had a Farm to Farm workshop discovering how far food travels and what we can do at home to grow our own food. They also learnt all about the importance of our rainforests and made notebooks out of recycled materials.

This early start sets the tone for an exciting week ahead as we dive deeper into the theme of Curiosity and Sustainability, empowering pupils to ask questions, think boldly, and imagine a greener future.
