Fast Fashion Uncovered: Exploring Ethical Choices, Sustainability and Upcycling
Thriving on constant changing trends, fast fashion promotes cheap clothes that rely on having fabric and garments made in countries where wages and regulations can be kept to a minimum.
Fast fashion has caused a dramatic increase in the environmental damage caused by the textile industry during recent years. This problem will continue into the future unless awareness is raised among consumers about more ethical choices.
With young people one of the key target groups of the fashion industry, this workshop shares creative and inspiring alternatives to fast fashion and encourages reuse and repair. After exploring the problems fast fashion creates pupils will upcycle an old or unloved T-shirt into a fabulous tote bag.
